Scholarships

The Community Foundation administers a variety of scholarship to help individuals, families, and businesses create a brighter future by encouraging education

Additional Scholarships

Financial assistance for middle school and high school athletic camps, student teachers, and business/leadership programs.

Non-Traditional Scholarships

SACF's Non-Traditional Scholarships are available to Adults and Trade Students to assist with the costs of education-related expenses.

Dr. Aurora DeCastro Scholarship

Graduating seniors nominated for this award may receive up to $10,000 per year for four years. To be eligible, applicants must be a first-generation college student and pursuing a four-year degree. 

General Scholarship Application

The General Scholarship application is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students pursuing two-year or four-year college degrees.

Community Foundation Scholarship Programs

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation administers a wide variety of scholarships within St. Joseph County. SACF offers scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors, current college students, adults returning to school, and trade school students. For most scholarships, eligible applicants must be graduates of a high school within St. Joseph County or completing their diploma or GED in St. Joseph County. 

SACF offers scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors and current college students who graduated from high schools in St. Joseph County, Michigan and are pursuing a college degree (two-year, four-year, and graduate degrees). Students can access 46 different scholarships with just one application.

Applications

SACF's 2023 Scholarship Application opens on December 15, 2022. The application deadline is March 1, 2023. If you have questions about scholarships, please contact us at scholarships@sturgisfoundation.org.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be graduating seniors or current college students from high schools in St. Joseph County, Michigan. 

Applicants must have completed the Federal Application for Student Aid.

SACF offers more than just traditional college scholarships. Additional opportunities can be found below for  trade school, business and leadership education, student teachers, and athletics camps. Athletic Camp Scholarships

Athletic camp scholarships offer financial assistance of up to $200 for Sturgis middle school and high school students to cover the costs/tuition of athletic camp and training programs. Applications are due annually on March 31.

Apply for the FORL Fund Student Teaching Scholarship here

FORL Scholarship for Student Teachers

The FORL Fund provides financial support for student teachers who are in the process of completing their student teaching requirement. Applications are due annually on December 1. Awards are announced in early January.

Sturgis Rotary Business/Leadership Education Scholarship

The Sturgis Rotary Fund provides support for scholarships and/or grants to promote leadership and business education in the Sturgis Community. Applications are due annually on April 1.

Apply for the Austin Stemen Scholarship for the Trades here

Austin Stemen Scholarship for the Trades

The Austin Stemen Scholarship for the Trades will be awarded annually to graduating seniors from Sturgis High School who are pursuing vocational or trade school programs. Applications are due annually on March 1
